Team USA survived a scare against South Sudan on Saturday that nearly came at the hands of former Cyclone Marial Shayok.

The U.S. beat South Sudan 101-100 in the exhibition game, just squeaking out the win.

Shayok collected 24 points in 28 minutes on the floor, adding three rebounds, three assists and two steals.

The former Cyclone was 9-16 from the field and 6-12 from 3-point range.

Tyrese Haliburton played seven minutes in the game and record a rebound.

Shayok is in contention – from our understanding – to make the South Sudan Olympics roster, which would bring Iowa State’s total Olympians to five.

He will be added to the schedule once the team’s final roster is released.
