Former Iowa State quarterback Brock Purdy has been named as a Captain for the San Francisco 49ers for the 2023 NFL season.

The Arizona native set the league off in his stretch late last year, guiding the 49ers to the NFC Championship Game.

The team announced its captains on social media Wednesday:

Alongside Purdy in the Captain spot is 49ers tight end and former Hawkeye George Kittle. Trent Williams, Arik Armstead, Fred Warner and Deebo Samuel were also named as Captains.

The 49ers open their season on Sunday, traveling to face the Pittsburgh Steelers at Noon on FOX.
