Per ESPN’s Pete Thamel, The Big 12’s presidents and chancellors voted unanimously on Wednesday to accept Colorado as a new member to the league.

It’s one of the earlier steps in the official moves that are necessary to complete the realignment for the program.

Colorado was already a member of the conference, going back to 1996 with the Big 8 and stretching through 2010.

The move, which is reportedly done and expected to be made official on Thursday, per Brett McMurphy would bring the Big 12 to 13 teams following the departures of Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC.

Some reporters have floated the idea of a mystery program making the move with Colorado, but nothing has materialized enough to be mentioned.

As the PAC 12 continues to kick the can down the road on a new media rights deal, it should be something to monitor for Big 12 fans wanting to figure out the conference’s future member schools.
