Iowa State’s newly named offensive line coach in Ryan Clanton grew up in California, and it didn’t take long for him to find any prospects out of the state.

For twin brothers Wade and Brent Helton, Clanton managed to find two in the same household.

“It’s awesome (to get to be recruited with my brother),” Wade said. “It’s a dream come true and it’s a dream to go play Big 12 or Big 10 football.”

Wade and Brent, a pair of 6-foot-5 recruits out of Corona, Calif. in the 2024 class, have each been targeted by a number of high-major programs.

They want to go to college together, as a packaged deal and had an in-house visit from Clanton in May.

“He was really cool,” Helton said. “We talked a lot about Iowa State and the program that they’re trying to build. He said that he loved our film and how mean and physical we played. We scheduled our visit for June 16 with him.”

The twins were also reached out to by coach Matt Campbell over the phone and have set three visits up for the month of June.

Before visiting Iowa State, they will see Arizona State on June 9 and will then visit SMU on June 23 following their time in Ames.

The pair wants to commit before their high school seasons begin in the fall.
