Brock Purdy headlined things for Iowa State fans eager to learn the fate of former Cyclones that stood on the bubble of their NFL spots going into the 2022 season.

Purdy qualified for the final roster for San Francisco, who elected to keep three quarterbacks on the slate; them being the former Cyclone, Trey Lance, and Jimmy Garoppolo.

It’s the thing that sticks out most on the day, as the 49ers’ Garoppolo has appeared in trade rumors throughout the summer. Purdy’s 182-yard performance in the team’s final preseason game couldn’t have hurt his odds.

Tuesday marked the deadline for teams in the league to finalize their roster before the start of the year on Sunday, September 11.

A majority of former players from Iowa State either kept their existing roster spots or made their team’s final roster:

David Montgomery remains on the Chicago Bears, however, the team did cut tight end Chase Allen Tuesday.

Allen Lazard, Breece Hall, and Kene Nwangwu remain on the Packers, Jets, and Vikings rosters, respectfully.

Charlie Kolar did not practice with the Baltimore Ravens Tuesday due to a hernia, but it is expected that he will make the final roster and switch over to the IR to make room for a teammate.

Enyi Uwazurike made the Denver Broncos’ final roster.

Matt Leo will remain with the Philadelphia Eagles as part of the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program.

The New Orleans Saints cut tight end Dylan Soehner and waived offensive lineman Derek Schweiger.

Jake Hummel made the final roster for the Los Angeles Rams. The team, however, did cut wide receiver Landen Akers.

Willie Harvey Jr. was cut by Cleveland and former Iowa State basketball forward Michael Jacobson was waived by Indianapolis.
