Iowa State hosted a high school freshman on campus last week in Omaha defensive line target Tyson Terry.
The 2025 recruit already has five scholarship offers as he starts to prepare for his sophomore season of high school football.
“It definitely feels great,” Terry said. “It’s something that I dream about, growing up watching football. Being so young (and getting offers) kind of gives me relief and takes some pressure off.”
Terry, a 6-foot-3 265-pounder, has seen offers come from Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota and Nebraska along with Iowa State’s offer that was extended in January.
He’s one of just 10 recruits in his class to be offered by the Cyclones to this point and said he enjoyed his visit to Ames.
“I was very impressed with my Iowa State visit,” Terry said. “It was kind of like a 1-on-1 visit. I got to tour some of the facilities and got to talk to Coach Campbell for a good 20 minutes.”
“I feel like Coach Campbell was a down-to-earth kind of guy. He came from a smaller program in college so I felt like I definitely connected with him and that we-over-me type of culture.”
Terry ended his freshman athletic season in the spring by winning a state wrestling championship in the heavyweight class.
“My goal is to be a four-time state champ,” Terry said. “I’ll keep grinding at that and I’ll keep grinding at football.”
