Decision makers from across the Big 12 are slated to come together Thursday evening to discuss the ongoing saga of Texas and Oklahoma’s potential departure from the league, according to a report from CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd.

The meeting, scheduled for 5 p.m., will be the first between the league’s athletic directors and presidents since a Houston Chronicle’s bombshell report on Wednesday revealed Texas and Oklahoma had reached out to the SEC about potential membership.

Numerous publications have since confirmed the two institutions’ interest in leaving the Big 12 once the league’s media deal expires in 2025, with an official declaration from the schools potentially coming as soon as next week.

The news has also caught the attention of politicians within the Big 12 footprint, most notably Texas state representative Jeff Leach.

“The lack of transparency by our flagship institution is wrong,” Leach wrote on Twitter. “Such a monumental economic and educational decision impacting the entire state must not be made in a bubble on the forty acres. Working on legislation requiring legislative approval for UT to bolt the BIG XII.”
