Iowa State placekicker Connor Assalley has been an outstanding contributor for the Cyclone special teams the last two seasons, and Iowa State head football coach Matt Campbell rewarded Assalley today by placing him on scholarship for his senior season in 2020.

A native of Naperville, Ill., Assalley finished the 2019 season connecting on 78.9 percent (15-of-19) of his field goals, the fourth-best single-season percentage in school history. His 15 field goals also tied for the eighth-most in on the Cyclone season record list.

Assalley, who led the team in scoring for the second-straight season (94 points), had three games making three or more field goals, including a 3-of-3 effort vs. Notre Dame in the Camping World Bowl.

Assalley made history during the season when his 36-yard field goal split the uprights as time expired to help the Cyclones defeat No. 22 Texas (23-21). It was Iowa State’s first regulation “walk-off” victory since 1983.

He enters his senior season with the third-best field goal percentage (73.8%, 31-42) and the ninth-most field goals made (31) in Iowa State history.
