On what was expected to be a quiet national signing day for Iowa State, there was one surprise in store. The school announced Wednesday morning three-star wide receiver Tayvonn Kyle has signed with the program.

Kyle is rated as the No. 102 athlete in the 2018 recruiting class, according to 247Composite. He’s the No. 137 prospect in the state of Georgia and chose the Cyclones over offers from Georgia State, Colorado State, Illinois, Purdue, Maryland, West Virginia and a few other FBS programs.

The fan base is crazy,” Kyle told Cyclone Fanatic following his official visit to Ames last month. “It’s a college town so everybody there pretty much has some kind of affiliation to the college. Everywhere you go if you’re on the team or if you’re a coach or something like that, they all know who you are and they treat their student-athletes with the utmost amount of respect. They praise them down there. They make them feel really special.”

Kyle gives the Cyclones 20 commits in the 2018 recruiting class with 19 of them already signed to letters of intent. Iowa State is still awaiting a letter from four-star Ohio wide receiver Joseph Scates plus three-star quarterback Brock Purdy is expected to announce his college choice within the next several hours.

Stay tuned to Cyclone Fanatic for more coverage throughout national signing day.
