Iowa State Football brought in an amount of prospects for visits over the weekend in an effort to round out its 2024 recruiting class ahead of Early Signing Day on Wednesday.

David Coffey, a three-star cornerback out of De La Salle in Chicago, was one of those visitors and officially announced his commitment to Iowa State Sunday.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound prospect will sign with the Cyclones Wednesday. Coffey played both wideout and defensive back during his senior season, and Iowa State hopes it can develop him at the cornerback spot with coach Hank Poteat.

Coffey chose Iowa State over offers from Northern Illinois, Kent State, Colorado State, Illinois State, Indiana State, Eastern Illinois and Western Illinois.

He becomes the 22nd commitment to Iowa State’s 2024 recruiting class.
