Recruiting Roundup: A push for priority targets highlights the week

We’re deep in the heart of the 2023 recruiting cycle at this point and although it was a quieter week on the recruiting trail, Iowa State is beginning to make pushes for a plethora of potential future Cyclones.

The program lands in a pair of top choice lists and hosts a JUCO player on a visit. We recap it all in this week’s recruiting roundup:

Iowa State the latest to offer Des Moines North edge rusher
The Cyclones are the latest team to extend an offer to in-state prospect David Caulker – a three-star edge rusher rated as the No. 12 player in the state.

Caulker holds offers from Iowa State, Missouri, Minnesota, Northern Illinois and UNI, as well.

The program is making a strong push to add Caulker, along with three more priority, in-state players to its 2023 class.

Christian McKinney adds his name to June official visit weekend
Iowa State will host a slew of prospects and already-committed players in Ames on the weekend of June 10-12.

Three-star Illinois linebacker Christian McKinney announced that he’d be in town as well.

Other players who have announced they will visit in June include ATH prospect Jamison Patton, ATH prospect Jalyn Stanford, ATH prospect Aycen Stevens, OT prospect Brandon Henderson, RB prospect Carson Hansen, CB prospect Ja’Keem Jackson, WR prospect Kenyon Sadiq, DL prospect Elinneus Davis, DE prospect Will McDonald, EDGE prospect David Caulker, DL commit Jason Hammond Jr., ATH commit Cam Smith and QB commit J.J. Kohl.

Cyclones make final eight for Colorado offensive lineman:
Iowa State made the list for Ethan Thomason for the three-star prospect’s top eight choices going into the summer.

The program will be up against Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Colorado, Utah, Vanderbilt, BYU and Stanford to land him.

Cyclones host JUCO cornerback on visit
Iowa State has gone after multiple JUCO defensive backs over the off-season, with LJ Hewitt becoming the latest.

The prospect out of Mississippi Gulf Coast CC holds an offer to Missouri as well as Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Texas State and UNI.

Omaha Biliew announces final four list with Cyclones, KU & Oregon:
On the basketball side of things, five-star prospect and Waukee native Omaha Biliew announced his top four choices in the program he will play college basketball at.
