Baylor’s Kendall Brown shoots while Iowa State’s George Conditt defends during the Iowa State men’s basketball game against No. 1 Baylor, on Saturday Jan. 1, 2022, at Hilton Coliseum, in Ames. The Cyclones fell to the Bears 77-72.

It did not take former Cyclone George Conditt long to prove he belongs at the professional level.

The Chicago native scored nine points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked four shots on Saturday in his professional debut for Gigantes de Carolina, just weeks after helping Iowa State reach its first Sweet 16 since 2016.

Carolina lost the game 79-70 to Quebradillas, which was led by 23 points and 17 rebounds from former Kansas All-American Thomas Robinson.

Conditt started the game and played 22 minutes for Carolina while shooting 4-of-6 from the field, 0-of-1 from 3-point range and 1-of-2 from the free throw line.

Carolina’s season will continue on Tuesday when they take on Arecibo.
