Iowa State’s recruiting hot streak has landed the program its biggest fish of the 2022 cycle.

Four-star Florida wide receiver Greg Gaines committed to the Cyclones on Saturday during an Instagram Live. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Tampa native is now the second-highest rated recruit in Iowa State’s class, behind only Council Bluffs defensive tackle Hunter Deyo.

Gaines, who visited Iowa State last month, chose the Cyclones over offers from 24 other schools, including Kansas State, Indiana, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida State, Miami, Iowa and Tennessee.

The Tampa Bay Tech product is considered the No. 329 player in the class, No. 47 wide receiver and No. 39 prospect in Florida by the 247Composite.

He is the second wide receiver to commit to Iowa State in as many days, following Kansas City pass catcher Jason Essex’s commitment on Friday.
