RECRUITING: Cyclones land Texas defensive tackle

Iowa State’s 2021 football recruiting class continues to grow.

On Thursday, the Cyclones landed a commitment from three-star Richmond, Texas defensive tackle Tyler Onyedim when he announced his pledge via his Twitter account.

Onyedim is considered the No. 78 defensive tackle and No. 1,411 player overall in the 2021 recruiting class. The 6-foot-3, 277-pound prospect chose the Cyclones over offers from more than 15 other schools, including Boston College, Colorado State, Florida International, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico and New Mexico State.

Iowa State now holds 14 commitments in the 2021 recruiting cycle and the class sits just outside the top-25 nationally. Onyedim is the program’s second defensive line commitment, joining Kansas City three-star Howard Brown.
