Newcomers were the big story on Thursday night at the regular season finale of the YMCA Capital City League.
Rasir Bolton dropped 51 points and made 18 of 20 free throws in route to a 133-131 victory for his Walnut Creek YMCA team.
Michael Jacobson was impressed.
Other high scoring Cyclones from the night included Prentiss Nixon and incoming freshman Tre Jackson. The pair faced off in the final game of the evening, with Jackson’s team taking home the win.
Even though he isn’t playing in the league, Tyrese Haliburton returned to the West Des Moines Valley High School gym after his cross-seas trip. Haliburton was glad to be back.
The YMCA Capital City League Playoffs will begin on Sunday night with the annual dunk and 3-point contest sandwiched between a pair of First Round games.
Action will begin at Valley at 4:30 p.m. CT.
