Recruiting Roundup: January 24, 2019

Iowa State picked up it’s first 2021 commitment this week in tight end/linebacker Zach Twedt (Story City, Iowa).  His commitment Saturday comes just over a year after the Cyclone staff offered him as a freshman in high school.

ISU also picked up a few preferred walk-ons for the 2019 class, as linebacker Andrew Ernstmeyer (Eau Claire, Wisc.), quarterback Devin Larsen (Queen Creek, Ariz.), defensive tackle Kyle Krezek (Cedar Rapids, Iowa), and OG Evan Kilstrom (Pleasant Valley, Iowa) announced their commitments on Twitter.

*** ISU signee Tre Jackson (Blythewood, S.C.) was in town for the Oklahoma State game.  Jackson recently received a rating boost, up to the No. 21 point guard in the class.  He committed a couple days after his official visit in September.

*** Class of 2020 shooting guard Ethan Kilgore (Gower, Mo.) was also in town for the Oklahoma State game, according to Matthew Bain of the Des Moines Register.  Kilgore has interest from Creighton, Iowa, Kansas State, Missouri and Nebraska.


*** ISU running back signee Breece Hall (Wichita, Kan.) received a rating boost in the 247 Sports Composite rankings this week, up five spots at the position to No. 23 and 93 overall in the 2019 class to No. 368. He is already enrolled at Iowa State.

*** Cyclone tight end signee Skylar Loving-Black (San Jose, Calif.) climbs nine spots at his position to the No. 65 TE in the latest 247 Sports Composite rankings.  That is a jump of 415 spots overall in the 2019 class.

*** A pair of Iowa State 2020 commits made at least their fifth visits to Ames last weekend.  Quarterback Aidan Bouman (Buffalo, Minn.) was offered in May and became the Cyclones first commit on June 21st.  Linebacker Cole Pederson (Leon, Iowa) was offered at an ISU camp in June and committed on July 25th.

*** Cornerback Tavian Mayo (Leesburg, Ga.) took his official visit to ISU last weekend.  Mayo has held a Cyclone offer since February 2018, and has taken other officials to Nebraska, West Virginia and North Carolina.

*** Wide receiver Lawrence Cager (Towson, Md.), a graduate transfer from Miami, has scheduled an official visit for this weekend.  He was rated as the No. 45 WR and No. 346 overall in the class of 2015.

*** New high-interest target in the class of 2020 is cornerback Dontae Manning (Kansas City, Mo.).  Iowa State offered on October 27th during his visit and he returned on December 8th.  Rated as the No. 40 CB in the class, he has offers from Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, Missouri and Virginia Tech.

*** The Cyclones offered Michigan State commit Alante Brown (Chicago, Ill.).  Brown has been committed since June but did not sign in December.  He has other power offers from Florida State, Minnesota and Missouri.

*** The second new offer for 2019 is cornerback Kenyon Reed (Long Beach, Calif.), who has offers from New Mexico, Rice, Sacramento State and South Dakota.  He took an official visit to UCLA last weekend but does not yet hold an offer.

*** New class of 2020 offers since the last update: WR Chimere Dike (Waukesha, Wis.), who was in Ames for the win over Kansas State on November 24th; ILB Daved Jones Jr. (West Chester, Ohio), six P5 offers; WR Kaleb Long (Tampa, Fla.), offer from Virginia; S Bangally Kamara (Akron, Ohio), four P5 offers; WR Tommy Christakos (Scottsdale, Ariz.), four P5 offers; OT Terrah Edwards (Groveport, Ohio); OG Marcus Harper (Flossmorr, Ill.); and SDE Kevo Wesley (Chicago, Ill.).
*** New class of 2021 offers: OT Connor Colby (Cedar Rapids, Iowa); OT Riley Mahlman (Lakeville, Minn.), camped in Ames on June 9th and holds five Big 10 offers; and OT Bastian Swinnery (Minneapolis, Minn.).

*** Iowa State offered their second prospect for the class of 2022, as athlete Trevon Howard (Minneapolis, Minn.) picked up his first offer from the Cyclones.
