Recruiting Roundup: July 14, 2018

Iowa State continued its success on the recruiting front last Sunday with a commitment from its top target at linebacker, Caleb Johnson (Murrieta, Calif.) out of Fullerton College.  The Cyclones offered on May 9 and he took an official visit the weekend of June 15.  An added bonus is that Johnson will be an early enrollee.  He held offers from Arkansas, Florida Atlantic and Marshall.

*** Jake Weingarten reported that Iowa State will watch three prospects this month.  Those names are small forward Malik Hall (Wichita, Kan.), who was offered April 24th; power forward Drew Timme (Richardson, Texas) who was offered May 17th; and class of 2020 power forward Ben Carlson (St. Paul, Minn.), offered May 3rd.

*** Matthew Bain of the Des Moines Register broke down top prospects and staff plans for the July recruiting period, read that article here.

*** The Cyclones made the top three for wide receiver Martez Manuel (Colombia, Mo.), which he tweeted out on Sunday.  Joining ISU are Missouri and Wyoming.  He was offered April 26th and previously stated he will announce his commitment on July 30th.

*** After a June 16th offer, Iowa State made the top 7 for safety Ron Nunnery (Pearland, Texas), which he released via Twitter on Tuesday.  Other teams on the list include Boise State, Colorado, Houston, Memphis, Rice, and Texas-San Antonio.
