Recruiting Roundup: June 23, 2018

Iowa State picked up three commitments this week, including the first for the class of 2020.

On Monday, the No. 92 rated athlete and No. 1014 overall, Leonard Glass (Fresno, Calif.), committed to ISU.  He was offered on April 3rd and took an official visit last weekend before making his pledge.  Glass held 9 offers, including P5 offers from Oregon State and Washington State.

Linebacker Aric Horne (Jacksonville, Fla.) committed to Iowa State on Friday.  He was offered on Thursday and is currently visiting Ames.  Horne is not yet rated by 247 Sports.  He has 19 offers, with a P5 offer from Rutgers.

The first commitment for the class of 2020 is PQB Aidan Bouman (Buffalo, Minn.) who committed on Thursday.  The Cyclones offered May 6th and he took a visit on June 2nd.

BASKETBALL LATEST:

*** Iowa State offered center Kai Jones (Wolfeboro, N.H.) on Tuesday.  Jones holds 13 P6 offers and has emerged due to a relationship with new ISU assistant James Kane.

*** Class of 2020 saw a new offer to point guard Zeb Jackson (Maumee, Ohio) on Monday.  Ohio State and Xavier are currently seen to be the early leaders.

*** ISU offered 2022 point guard Tamin Lipsey (Ames, Iowa) this past Saturday, becoming the first offer for the class.  Iowa State has not offered anyone in the 2021 class.

FOOTBALL LATEST:

*** The Cyclones made the top 10 for running back King Doerue (Amarillo, Texas) last Saturday.  He took an official to Minnesota this month, and the Gophers, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech are thought to be his leaders.

*** Iowa State made the top eight of safety Brandon Joseph (College Station, Texas) on Sunday, which he released via Twitter.  The other teams that made the list include Arizona, Colorado, Northwestern, Purdue, Texas Tech, Utah and Vanderbilt.  The Cyclones offered the No. 90 rated safety on May 7th.

*** Running back Jirehl Brock (Quincy, Ill.) cancelled his Iowa official visit and moved his ISU official to this weekend.  The N0. 11 rated RB has long been a top target, along with Breece Hall (Wichita, Kan.).

*** The Cyclones made the top five for cornerback Eldridge Franklin (West Palm Beach, Fla.) on Monday.  The other four teams are Cincinnati, Florida Atlantic, UAB, and Kent State.  Iowa State offered on January 17th.

*** Iowa State made the top list for a pair of Detroit prospects in the middle of the week, which both announced with their Twitter accounts.  Safety Ormondell Dingle released a top 5 including Cincinnati, Central Michigan, ISU, Pittsburgh and Syracuse. Athlete Kyron McKinnie-Harper had a top 6 with Cincinnati, Central Michigan, Syracuse, Washington State, and Western Michigan joining the Cyclones in the list.

*** Released on Wednesday via Twitter, Donovan Ollie (Wylie, Texas) included ISU in his top 6 with Boston College, Northwestern, Kansas, Utah and Washington State.  The Cyclones offered May 4th.

*** Wide receiver Cole Pederson (Leon, Iowa) received an offer at an ISU camp on June 2nd, on June 19th he returned for another visit.

*** The Cyclones made the top 6 of cornerback Marcus Lafrance (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) per his Tweet on Friday.  Joining ISU in his list is Florida Atlantic, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh, Western Kentucky and Bowling Green.  ISU offered May 1st.

*** Iowa State cornerback commit Derrick “DJ” Miller (St. Louis, Mo.) moved up 8 spots in the 247 Sports Composite cornerback rankings and 30 spots overall, cracking the top 1000 at  No. 987.
