Recruiting Roundup: May 12, 2018

BASKETBALL LATEST:

*** Iowa State offered PG Tyrell Terry (Minneapolis, Minn.) on Monday.  The staff has been in to see him multiple times over the last few weeks.  Terry holds notable offers from Baylor, Butler, Indiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, Stanford, and Xavier.

*** After offering earlier this month, ISU has joined Minnesota and Wisconsin in the top three for power forward Tyler Wahl (Lakeville, Minn.).  Wahl has offers from his top three, Butler, Colorado State and a bunch of MVC schools.

*** Point guard target D.J. Carton (Bettendorf, Iowa) eliminated the Cyclones in a top 6 released via his Twitter on Thursday evening.  His top 6 include Indiana, Iowa, Marquette, Michigan, Ohio State and Xavier.

FOOTBALL LATEST:

*** Safety Marvin Grant Jr. postponed his May 5th commitment and mentioned visits to Iowa State, Purdue and Kentucky.  Michigan and Kentucky are thought to be the leaders.

*** Iowa State, Colorado and Louisville are the top schools after cornerback Keithan Gooden Jr. (Calabasas, Calif.) according to this CBS article.

*** Wide receiver Maliq Carr (Oak Park, Mich.) was offered on Monday.  Carr is a 2020 prospect and the son of former Iowa State men’s basketball assistant coach Cornell Mann.

*** Linebacker Omari Fiffer (Jacksonville, Fla.) is a new name on the high interest list this week.  His profile shows Boston College, Syracuse, UCF and USF as the rest of the top 5.  The Cyclones offered March 7th.

*** The other new high target this week is Dez Melton (Glendale, Ariz.).  The Cyclones are the only program listed warm for the No. 77 rated athlete in the 2019 class.  Melton holds offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Nebraska and Nothern Arizona.

*** Top linebacker target Jestin Jacobs (Clayton, Ohio) committed to Iowa on Friday morning.  Iowa State offered back in January and he visited in March.  He had previously released a top 7 including the Cyclones, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Michigan State, Northwestern and Purdue.

*** Three football targets are expected to release top lists this week.  Wide receivers Kyren Williams (St. Louis, Mo.) and Marcus Washingon (St. Louis, Mo.) will release a top 7 and top 6 Sunday.  Safety Corien Azema (Houston, Texas) will announce a top 10 on Thursday.

*** Not sure I tracked every offer this week but I did find 41 of them.  The breakdown by class is 21 for 2019, 18 for 2020 and 2 for 2021.  Names and profiles are below in the summary.  Follow @CFRecruitingHQ on Twitter for up to date recruiting info.
