Wigginton slated at No. 32 in ESPN’s first 2019 NBA mock draft

ESPN‘s Jonathan Givony has Iowa State’s Lindell Wigginton being selected just outside of the first round of next year’s NBA Draft in his first 2019 mock draft (just an FYI, you do need ESPN Insider in order to see the mock draft).

The draft guru, formerly of DraftExpress, pegs Wigginton as the No. 32 pick which is the second pick of the draft’s second round. Wigginton, who averaged 16.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists as a freshman for the Cyclones in 2017-18, has entered his name for this year’s draft but is expected to return to school as he did not sign an agent and likely will not be projected high enough to garner any guaranteed money.

If Givony’s 2019 prediction holds true, Wigginton still would not be slated to earn guaranteed money for the 2019-20 NBA season as first round picks are the only players given guaranteed contracts through the NBA Draft.

With that said, NBADraft.net slots Wigginton as the No. 28 pick in its 2019 mock draft at this point so it is safe to see him in that back-end of the first round to top-end of the second round range.

Regardless, this entire process is more than a year away and Wigginton will have plenty of chances to improve his stock assuming he returns to school to play with what figures to be a much improved Iowa State team in 2018-19.
