Iowa State has landed a commitment from Solon linebacker Coal Flansburg. The three-star prospect announced his pledge on his Twitter account Tuesday night.

The 6-foot-1, 230-pound inside linebacker prospect has visited Iowa State twice in 2018, including for the Cyclones’ junior day on February 24. Iowa State was his only offer.

Flansburg, who is rated as the No. 12 player in the state’s 2019 class, recorded 42 tackles, five tackles for loss, two sacks and three interceptions as a junior in 2017. He returned two of those three interceptions for touchdowns.

He is Iowa State’s ninth commit in the 2019 class and is the first linebacker to join the class. He is the third in-state commit in the class, joining Bettendorf wide receiver Darien Porter and Valley offensive lineman Jake Remsburg.

The Cyclones’ class rated as the No. 12 class in the country before Flansburg’s commitment. Stay tuned to Cyclone Fanatic for more.
