Iowa State will reportedly have a vacancy to fill on its football staff with a crucial recruiting period set to start this week. Running backs coach Lou Ayeni has accepted the same position at Northwestern, according to a report by Yahoo’s Pete Thamel.
Ayeni was named the national running backs coach of the year by 247Sports for his efforts in coaching up All-Big 12 performer David Montgomery and helping Iowa State complete the 2017 season with only one lost fumble. He first joined the Iowa State staff under Paul Rhoads in 2014 after spending three seasons with current ISU head coach Matt Campbell at Toledo.
