Allen Lazard has already solidified himself as one of the best wide receivers to ever play at Iowa State, but in order to be considered the very best he still has one man to catch.
Todd Blythe set every major pass catching record at Iowa State during his four-year career from 2004 to 2007. He remains the Cyclones’ all-time leader in career receptions (176), career receiving yards (3,096) and touchdown catches (31).
The Indianola native’s overall touchdown total is good for fourth all-time in program history. He’s also tied for the program lead in 100-yard receiving games and consecutive games with a touchdown catch.
Lazard, who enters the season with 16 touchdown receptions as a Cyclone, is in position to break several of Blythe’s records during his senior year, but the 31 career touchdown receptions is not likely to be one of them.
