Iowa State will play Appalachian State in the first round of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off tournament, according to a report by ESPN‘s Jeff Goodman. The Mountaineers replaced Florida State in the field after the Seminoles dropped out.

Appalachian State went 9-21 last season and 4-14 in Sun Belt play. The Mountaineers return their top two scorers, including 6-foot-5 junior guard Ronshad Shabazz, who poured in 16.7 points per game last season.

The Puerto Rico Tip-Off will take place Nov. 16, 17 and 19 at Coliseo Municipal Tomas Dones in Fajardo, Puerto Rico.
