RECRUITING: Iowa State lands commitment from Georgia linebacker

Iowa State picked up a commitment from three-star Georgia linebacker Gerry Vaughn on Sunday, the three-star prospect announced on his Twitter account. The 6-foot, 210-pound prospect was in Ames this weekend for an unofficial visit.

Vaughn is rated as the No. 86 outside linebacker in the class and No. 1,536 player in the class, per 247Composite. He also holds offers from Maryland, Rutgers and 12 other FBS programs.

He is Iowa State’s first linebacker commit in the 2018 class and the program’s 11th commitment overall. The Cyclones’ class currently ranks as the No. 39 class in the country and is No. 7 in the Big 12.

Vaughn’s commitment will move the Cyclones up to the edge of the top-35, based on the calculations by 247’s class calculator. Stay tuned to Cyclone Fanatic for more on this story.
