AMES — A little bit of housekeeping following Iowa State’s 92-89 overtime weekend win at Kansas and before Tuesday night’s (8 o’clock, ESPN2) bout with Texas.

Bowie is back

After missing Saturday’s game at Kansas for a failure to meet program expectations, senior post Darrell Bowie will return to the team for Tuesday night’s game. Iowa State will travel to Austin on Monday night and Bowie will be with the team.

Bowie is averaging 6.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game on the season.

Opportunity week lies ahead for the Cyclones

Lineup changes?

In 32 minutes of work, freshman post Solomon Young was critical in defending Kansas’ bulky posts. He was so good that the following question was raised: Any chance of a starting lineup change?

“We won’t but obviously I am going to be looking at the first guy off the bench down there, I’d be shocked if it isn’t Solomon. No, I won’t change anything,” Prohm said. “Solomon has handled his up an downs as far as playing and not playing better than anybody. I think he got rewarded for that the other day.”

Young had six rebounds, including three important ones on the offensive end, in that win over the Jayhawks. His effective interior defense however did not show up in the box score.

Matt Thomas’ “injury”

He’s not hurt.

The ice packs you saw on Matt Thomas’ leg late in that game Saturday were for his continued fight with bone spurs.

“I think he is fine,” Prohm said. “I think something came out on TV that may have been heard. He is banged up but he wasn’t hurt in that game. I just kind of went with my gut. That group was playing good. I stayed with them. Obviously I have a ton of confidence in Matt. He has been playing really, really well. He had some good looks at Kansas but just missed them. He will be ready to go tomorrow so we will need him to bounce back and play well.”

Thomas went 0-for-6 from the field (0-for-5 from three) in the win at Kansas. Before that though, he had converted on 16-of-22 3-point attempts in Iowa State’s previous three games.
