Cyclone Fanatic is counting down the days until Iowa State’s season opener against Northern Iowa by bringing you a stat, former Cyclone moment or any other random tidbits every morning to help countdown the days.
After Big 12 media days, our publisher Chris Williams wrote how Iowa State needs to get Allen Lazard the damn ball in 2016. To be honest, after looking at the statistics, that may be an understatement.
During the first halves of each game in 2015, Lazard was a force to be reckoned with. He posted 33 catches for 521 yards–15.79 yard per reception average–and five touchdowns. But when it came to the second half, Lazard’s production decreased.
Lazard only caught 23 passes for 286 yards and a touchdown after halftime in 2015.
That should not and cannot happen in 2016 for the Cyclones. If Iowa State wants to be competitive this upcoming season, they will need to make sure Lazard is involved throughout every game. If that doesn’t happen, the Cyclones could be in for another rough season in 2016.
