CCL Recap: Babb showing his versatility during CCL

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa. — It is hard to predict Nick Babb’s role for the 2016-17 Iowa State basketball team. He’s a versatile player that can shoot, handle the ball and defend.

He’s likely to play a lot off the basketball as a backup to Matt Thomas and Naz Mitrou-Long. The 6-foot-5-inch, redshirt sophomore could find time as a third point guard behind Monte Morris and JUCO transfer Donovan Jackson.

“Really, whatever coach asks me to do, I’ll do it,” Babb said on Wednesday at the YMCA Capital City League. “If it happens to be coming off as the third point guard, then I’ll be coming off as the third point guard and give the team whatever I can. But I just see myself coming off the ball a lot more.”

Babb has been able to show off his game during the first few nights at Valley Southwoods. He led ADIO Chiropractic to a 118-116 win over Hannah Homes on Wednesday with a 25 points, 13 rebound and 12 assist performance.

You can hear Babb talk more about what he wants to improve this summer, his role on the team and the ISU newcomers in this video by Garrett Kroeger.
