Cedar Rapids, Washington linebacker commits to ISU

Last week at the Cyclone Fanatic Football Recruiting Party, Matt Campbell said he wished his staff was further along on the class of 2017. Monday afternoon they took another step forward.

Cedar Rapids Washington linebacker O’Rien Vance has committed to Iowa State, according to multiple sources. Vance is rated as a three-star prospect by Scout.com and is one of the top players in Iowa for the class of 2017.

Vance had 92.5 tackles – 75 solo and 25 for loss – during his junior season while adding four sacks, two interceptions and a fumble recovery for the Warriors. Their season ended in the state quarterfinals against Cedar Rapids, Kennedy.

He was named first team all-state by the Des Moines Register and was the Cedar Rapids Gazette’s area defensive player of the year.

Check back with Cyclone Fanatic later tonight for more on this story.
