Iowa State defensive tackle Devlyn Cousin was arrested on Friday evening under a simple domestic assault charge.

According to release from Iowa State, the junior has been suspended from teh football program.

“We are aware of the charges filed against Devlyn and we take them very seriously," Paul Rhoads said in the release. "The allegations brought against Devlyn are not consistent with the expectations of our program. Devlyn is currently suspended indefinitely under the Iowa State student-athlete discipline policy as we gather more information.”

According to a report from the Des Moines Register,D the police were called to Cousin’s apartment by his girlfriend at 8:50 p.m. That phone connection suddenly went dead. Police tracked the call, interviewed Cousin (and the girlfriend), which eventually resulted in the arrest.

Cousin started two games and recorded 12 tackles last season for the Cyclones.
