AMES, Iowa – Iowa State senior running back Aaron Wimberlyhas been named to the preseason watch list for the 2014 Doak Walker Award, presented annually to the nation’s top college running back.

Wimberly enters his senior season as one of ISU’s most dynamic offensive players, leading the team in rushing (567) and yards per carry (4.0) in 2013 despite missing two games due to injuries. Wimberly also caught 18 passes for 211 yards and had two 100-yard rushing performances (Tulsa- 137 yards; Texas- 117 yards) while competing in 10 games last season.

A native of Snellville, Ga., Wimberly was named to a number of preseason All-Big 12 lists by national magazines. He was the Big 12 Co-Offensive Player of the Week after his performance vs. Tulsa.

Wimberly is also on the Paul Hornung Award preseason watch list, given annually to the nation’s most versatile offensive player.
