Mock Draft Mania: Sporting News has Kane going in the first round

The 2014 NBA Draft is less than a week away and as most thought would be the case, landing spots for DeAndre Kane and Melvin Ejim are difficult to predict. That is expected to continue to be the case leading up to draft night, next Thursday, June 26 on ESPN.

However, Iowa State’s two draft prospects have recently popped up in numerous mock drafts across the country.

Kane going in the first round?

The Sporting News actually has the former Iowa State guard going to Oklahoma City at No. 29 in the first round. That projection seems a bit rogue, considering a handful of sites don’t even have Kane being drafted.

FOX has both Cyclones going in the second

In FOXSports.com’s latest mock, both Cyclones are projected to be chosen in the second round. This specific mock has Melvin Ejim going No. 39 to the 76ers with Kane landing in Houston at No. 42. Clearly though, this one wasn’t very well thought out. Is there really a chance that Houston, who drafted Royce White in the lottery two years ago, would take another chance on another Cyclone with a suspect past? I think not.

RC Cola likes Kane in the second

One of the more popular NBA Draft sites, NBADraft.net, has Kane going in the second round at No. 50 to the Phoenix Suns. It is notable that former Cyclone Jeff Hornacek is the head coach there.

However, our Brent Blum has often times referred to NBADraft.net as the "RC Cola" of mock draft sites. Take that for what it is worth.

Snubbed

Perhaps the most credible mock draft site on the net, DraftExpress.com, doesn’t have either Cyclone being selected.

The next Tim Duncan

That could be Melvin Ejim. In a recent mock that was released today, NBA.com has Ejim going to the Spurs in the second round at No. 58.

Gary Parrish from CBSSports.com also has Ejim going to the Spurs at No. 58.

In the same CBS mock, Matt Moore has Kane going to the 76ers at No. 47 and Ejim also going to the 76ers at 52.
