That’s two Ankeny players in two years for Paul Rhoads and Iowa State.
Joel Lanning, Ankeny High School’s starting quarterback, committed to head coach Paul Rhoads on Sunday evening according to a source. Lanning chose Iowa State over an offer from Nebraska. Iowa State signed kicker Cole Netten from Ankeny in its 2012 recruiting class.
Lanning threw for 1,733 yards, 18 touchdowns and only three interceptions during his junior season in route to a 11-2 record. He also ran the ball for 636 yards. Rivals.com ranks Lanning as a three-star prospect and the fifth best in the state of Iowa.
