Clyburn sets scoring record at YMCA Capital City League

By Chris Williams, CycloneFanatic.com Publisher

Stats from the Des Moines YMCA Capital City League generally don’t mean much, but Will Clyburn’s eye-popping 63 point outing from Sunday evening is definitely worth a mention here at CycloneFanatic.com.

Clyburn went 22-for-34 from the field while tacking on 14 rebounds to his box score as well. Clyburn’s 63 points broke the league’s single-game scoring record. It is noteworthy that Clyburn’s Walnut Creek YMCA squad lost the game by a 107-102 final to Patch.com.

Georges Niang and Tyrus McGee, who both play for Patch.com, scored 30 and 25 points respectively.

OTHER NOTES

— Anthony Booker scored 24 points and led his Coca-Cola team to a 109-87 victory over Capital Orthopedics. Incoming freshman Sherron Dorsey-Walker added 21 points to Coca-Cola’s box score, as former Cyclone Diante Garrett tacked on 17.

— Korie Lucious scored 38 points while leading Peak Performance to a 107-96 win over Adio Chiropractic. Bubu Palo added 22 points for Peak Performance. Meanwhile, freshman Naz Long led Adio Chiropractic with 33 points. Long went 7-for-16 from 3-point range. Chris Babb scored 26 points in the loss.
