Iowa State’s women’s basketball program showcased its 2011-12 squad in a 87-33 blowout win over Coe College in an exhibition contest Tuesday evening at Hilton Coliseum. Junior Chelsea Poppens led the way for Iowa State recording 14 points and nine rebounds.

NOTEBOOK:

— Iowa State’s starting lineup on Tuesday night looked like this: Chassidy Cole (Sr.), Lauren Mansfield (Sr.), Jessica Schroll (Jr.), Hallie Christofferson (So.) and Chelsea Poppens.

— Freshman Nikky Moody was impressive in the contest going 5-for-6 from the field. Moody had 12 points and five assists in the win, while turning the ball over only two times.

— Speaking of turnovers, that might have been the most impressive stat for the Cyclones in the exhibition. Iowa State only had eight of them in the win.

— All 14 players on Iowa State’s roster scored in the game.

— The Cyclones out-rebounded Coe 52 to 26 on the night.

BOX SCORE: Iowa State 87, Coe 33

Iowa State will play its second and final exhibition of the year on Sunday, tipping off at 5:30 p.m. against Rockhurst College. The Cyclones will officially begin the 2011 season on Friday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. vs. Houston Baptist.
