Lampkin reflects on official visit

By Chris Williams, CycloneFanatic.com Publisher

Iowa State very well migh have a special teams ace inside of the program within the next year. That prospect is Teddy Lampkin, a 5-foot-8, 165-pound wide receiver out of Omaha Central.

Lampkin scored 10 touchdowns in his senior campaign that has just come to a close, where Central finished with a record of 4-5. What’s amazing is that five of those touchdowns came on special teams.

“I think that I can help them be more explosive,” Lampkin said of Iowa State’s offense.

And yes, Lampkin said that Iowa State’s coaching staff has talked to him about being a major factor on special teams for the Cyclones as well.

Lampkin committed to the Iowa State back in June and visited Ames this weekend.

“I had a great time. I got to know my teammates and the coaching staff a lot better," Lampkin said. “They came out a little sluggish there in the first half but really got rolling there after halftime."

From here until he steps on Iowa State’s campus next summer, putting on weight is a priority for Lampkin, who currently sits at 165-pounds.

“They haven’t told me anything but I want to get up to 175 or 180,” Lampkin said. “Right now, I am preparing for track season.”

Lampkin is a superstar in track for Omaha Central. During his junior season, the future Cyclone won state championships in the long jump (23’ 7 ¾) and the triple jump (48’3 ¾). He placed second in the 100-meter dash, with a time of 10.80. He also anchored Omaha Central’s state championship winning 400-meter relay. Omaha Central won their second track and field championship in the last five years.
