The biggest recruiting story in Iowa State history will wrap up next week as Harrison Barnes, who many consider the top ranked basketball player in the class of 2010, will announce his school of choice on national television.
Ames High School activities director Judge Johnston tells CycloneFanatic.com that Barnes will indeed make his decision next Friday, Nov. 13, likely from Ames High.
Johnston said in an e-mail that Ames High is still waiting on ESPN to confirm what time the announcement will take place, though a mid-afternoon press conference seems likely.
Johnston said that it is still not official as to what ESPN channel the announcement will be made on.
“We hope to have it finalized by tomorrow,” Johnston said.
Barnes has declared Iowa State, Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, Oklahoma and UCLA as his final six.

Chris’ Take: Where’s HB going to go? If you guys had any clue as to how many times I have been asked that question over the last three years, you’d understand why I’m ecstatic that this fine young man is going to make his decision next week. It’s been a compelling story to cover since Harrison was a freshman. I worked for the Ames Tribune at that time. I covered a few Ames games and it didn’t take a professional scout to see that the area was watching a special talent.
So…where is he going to go? You’ve got a little over a week to get this thing hashed out Fanatics.
If he goes to Iowa State, the University would be smart to shut down school the following Monday if you know what I mean. Welch Avenue would sure be hopping on Friday the 13th.
If he doesn’t choose the Cyclones…I wish Harrison nothing but the best. He’s handled becoming a superstar with complete and total class. Barnes has been a real pleasure to cover and I’m sure he’ll make the best decision for him. Nobody can blame a kid for that.
