I guess I don't drink much, or at all actually, at home. And I enjoy going to the local craft brew houses when I do go out. So pretty local, or something that recently liked, but may not have regularly - and not in much of an order

1) Confluence Thomas Beck Black IPA
2) 515 Dart Dodger
3) Peace Tree Hop Wrangler - (these are probably in order)
4) Bell's Two hearted
5) Crow Peak 11th Hour IPA
6) Fargo Brewing Wood-Chipper
7) UberBrew HumulusRidiculous
8) Bozeman Brewery Hopzone

Heading the Clear Lake and then up to TG tonight/tomorrow. Been a while for TG - looking forward to it.

Anyone know of any craft beer houses around Lanesboro, MN? SE Minnesota?

Make sure you hit up Lake Time in Clear Lake, and leave my wife a nice tip if you're at TG tomorrow. If you're at TG tonight, you may see me there.

TG is the closest craft beer to Lanesboro in terms of breweries. None of the Lanesboro bars have great craft beer selection but Riverside on the Root has great Bloody Marys, if that's your thing. They aren't cheap though. On The Crunchy Side in Harmony has quality beer on tap, but only 5 or 6 taps. You'd have to go to Decorah, Rochester, or La Crosse to get find good craft beer selection at a bar. In Rochester, The Taphouse and Whistle Binkie's have the best beer selection. In La Crosse, The Bodega is the place to be, but pretty much everyone has New Glarus on tap. In Decorah, T Bock's, Good Times, and Rubiayat all have solid craft beer offerings (beyond TG).

I really wish I had Untappd for the last couple years, it would make this easier. As a homebrewer, I can honestly say that the best beers I've ever had have been at homebrew club meetings, where everyone brings their latest creation. Some of my own as well. But for commercial beers:

ODell - whichever seasonal is currently available, Red/St. Lupulin/Isolation
Odell IPA
Great Divide Oak Aged Yeti
Young's Double Chocolate Stout
New Belgium Biere de Mars
New Belgium Mighty Arrow
Anderson Valley Winter Solstice
Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale
Newcastle - introduced me to "other" flavored beers
Banquet

I'm going to list a top 5 because I'm guilty in the past of not trying much new stuff - but that is starting to change. Especially with using the untappd app. Really helps pick out wish list items and things to try.

1) Boulevard 80 Acre Hoppy Wheat
2) New Glarus Moon Man
3) Blue Moon - only on tap though
4) TG Dorothy's Lager
5) Boulevard Wheat

So, I've been trying a lot of stuff since September, time for a significant update:

No particular order
1) Boulevard 80 Acre Hoppy Wheat
2) New Glarus Moon Man
3) TG Pseudo Sue
4) TG Golden Nugget
5) Founders Canadian Breakfast Stout
6) Samuel Smith Organic Chocolate Stout
7) TG Lightspeed
8) Stone Enjoy by IPA
9) Green Flash IPA
10) Boulevard Wheat/Dorothy's Lager (nothing super special, but love to have these after mowing the lawn)

My apologies to Blue Moon. You were on tap at my wedding, but it's time to part ways from being considered one of my favorite beers (like I said, I'm new to this)

2. Stella - good flavor yet still tastes like beer.
3. Deshuettes (sp) Fresh Squeezed from the tap only.

I have to admit I don't get the love for Pliny the Elder. I had some this weekend and couldn't finish it; I think it tastes like kerosene. I do like a number of their beers; and live very close to the brewery, and to their credit the marketing job they have done with Pliny is unbelievable. People drive from all over when it is released, and wait in line.

First, I think you are confused. Pliny the Elder is a year round release. Yes, it is highly desired, especially in markets where Russian River does not distribute. However, people do not wait in line for its release. That is Pliny the Younger. It should be released somewhat soon and it is always a big event for the brewery and select bars that are lucky enough to score a keg.

Secondly, taste is taste and opinion is opinion. I really like the hop profile of Pliny the Elder. On the other hand, I don't understand the love for Bell's Two Hearted Ale. I prefer my pales to have more of a citrusy, juicy flavor. The Centennial hop is too musty of a taste for me to really enjoy.

Finally, I have never seen Russian River do any marketing for Pliny. Granted, I don't live anywhere near the brewery. However, it's reputation seems to be more word of mouth and positive review/ratings online. The hype on the beer comes completely from outside the brewery.
