Don't ever bring up that they were only getting 55-60k per game when Ferentz first started coaching. But now that they are battling with Alabama for the best football program in America they need a 90-100k stadium.

Are they really? I think that speaks more about the quality of the Big 10 than it does about Iowa. Just out of memory, isn't Iowa like 41 or so?

Here are the rankings. Big 10 looks good but Iowa is last.

2. Ohio St
8. Penn St
10. Minn
15. Wisconsin
21. Mich
29. Michigan St
36. Illinois
40. Indiana
46. Northwestern
47. Purdue

Iowa is outside the top 50. I found the full rankings yesterday but right now I can only find a top 50. I think Iowa was 56 or 58?!

ISU is 31st and UNI is in the 80's.

That sounds about right. Knew it was mid to high 50's. Just think if you guys wouldn't have blocked that FG against UNI you would be fighting Drake as the worst athletic program in the state! :wink:

Iowa averaged 63,464 during Ferentz's first year and Iowa averaged "only" in the low to mid-60's until the 2004 season, when it bumped up to 70k average per game and hasn't dropped below that since.

It does drive home how much our geographical situation sucks though. For two conferences (Big Ten, Pac-10) that really do seem to give a damn about how their non-revenue sports are perceived, we would be a good fit if we offered any sort of real potential as a revenue stream.
