Weed doesn't do anything for me, which is too bad because it's legal in my state and I'd like to be one of the cool kids ;-). I get a nervous heart rate, dry mouth and paranoia.
It took me several tries before weed ever did anything for me, but I was persistent.:)

Disagree wholeheartedly.

I have only had good experiences, and it's my drug of choice when it's available. Otherwise I stick to weed. Same as any drug, you need to know what you're getting into before you take it. Luckily I was with people who were experienced and knew what they were doing.

Get a full belly first because you will lose whatever appetite you had and end up feeling like **** in the morning. Also have a plan for the anxiety that will naturally arise because all of your senses are amped up 100x. That **** is overwhelming for your body and you need to regulate that anxiety before you can ease into the long "rolling" stage. Once you're there, you understand why it's called ecstasy.

One time I literally just laid in a hammock with a fuzzy blanket and my partner in my arms, talking about life, watching the lake and birds flying around. When I started getting antsy, we took a walk and laid down on a blanket under a full moon. Sounds cheesy but it was truly amazing.

That’s ******* beautiful man. I have similar experiences with my best friends and hallucinogens. We were tight before, but after we tripped a few times together we became a tribe. The only thing to build that kind of bond without drugs is combat or being on a high level sports team.

THC does nothing for me. Not that uncommon though I guess.

I'm the equivalent of a "Super Taster" when it comes to stuff like this. Pharmaceuticals hit me hard.

I hurt my back a few years ago, and was prescribed some muscle relaxers. I'd take one, and basically become a piece of furniture. Completely zoned out.

My wife had the exact same medication and the exact same dose a couple years later, and they barely affected her.

Even something as innocuous as NyQuil gets up on top of me, hard. If I take it before bed, it will be noon the next day before I am able to shake the zombie feeling.

And the effect applies to other substances as well.

Overall, as long as I know enough not to put myself in a bad situation, I've always seen it as a positive.

Snorted cocaine 5-10 times in the 80's it was ok, but it didn't last long and was extremely expensive. Took a double dose of mushrooms (because the first dose didn't do anything) big mistake, ended up hiding in my closet at the Towers after driving to Nevada IA and back to Ames terrified I would get pulled over. THC is ok, wish I liked it more as it's less damaging than Alcohol.

Denis Leary has a bit about cocaine that absolutely rings true. He talks about how sometimes someone will get the idea to buy a lot of coke at once, with the thought that it will last a long time, and invariably, two hours later they've done it all, and are looking to buy more. It goes really fast, and when you've done a little, the tendency is that you want to do more.

Edibles are the way. My friends who have only smoked a couple times and didn't feel anything simply weren't inhaling. Got them coughing up a storm and they went to the moon.

Never smoked it, but I tried some gummies last year and was not a fan. It put me in a really uncomfortable state where I wanted to sleep, but my mind was all over the place and I couldn't hold a thought. Just having a conversation was painful, because I struggled to stay attentive enough.

Sounds like you had indica, sativa might be better. For me a 5 or 10 mg Climbing Kites leads to a perfect night of sleep if I've had a day where I can't get something from work or whatever off my mind late at night.

Salvia. Used to be able to get it at the FD mall that is now demolished. Late 2000s.

I won't go into detail, but suffice it to say young Rez was no Stanger to experimenting with all your classic hallucinogens. All the classics were definitely effective, but they were easily handled in my case. Nothing too crazy.

But Salvia? That stuff terrifies me to this day. It was beyond a trip or a high or an experience. It was more real than real life, and it seemed to have an intricate knowledge of "me" and the human experience in general in a way that is difficult to describe. It's also difficult to remember in meaningful detail, other than a few takeaways. Sort of like a dream you wake up from remembering very vividly but quickly fades. But I'll share some takeaways or memories that have stuck with me.

1) I remember thinking there was NO WAY I'd ever forget what I saw. But I mostly did for sure.

2) I remember visually seeing the arch of humanity and history and me and my friends and family all melded into some sort of physical rotating form. Kind of like those creepy AI images that can melt into and out of other forms.

In it contained everything that ever is or ever was, from the most macro to the most mundane things in human experience. Although obviously spiritual or divine in nature, it was very much alive and self-aware. I remember saying to myself i light bulb eureka moment: "This is what God is. This is what the church is. This is what Jesus and religion is trying to get at or explain, but just in a crude or low-resolution way."

3) One of the handful of times I smoked it, I was in the MWL parking lot looking up at Willow and across the street to Scheman and Stephen's. It was night. The lights inside the dorms of Willow were flipping on and off in a very purposeful and intentional way. Like a light show everyone was in on, and it conveyed a sense of wonder but also dread in me for some reason. It was beautiful to see but also terrifying. Because it was real and I'm not as alone inside my head as I think I am. Everyone can see everyone at the end of it all no matter how hard we try to hide the parts of ourselves we want to hide.

4) I saw myself, but in a form I can only convey as resembling some sort of Hindu God split apart into component fibers. And my arms brushed over everything and bristles everything it touched. All i remember about how I felt was it was not cool to see this. Like it existed before I was born and was always meant to do what it was gonna do and it was out of my control? Something like that.

5) I "saw" time. Don't ask me to describe that one. It was crazy.

Pot the night of my HS graduation.

Might have been because I followed Bill Clinton's advice and didn't inhale!;) Or maybe it wasn't good stuff.

True words. Do drugs with your friends, people! It brings us together when it's done in a controlled/safe environment.

The world would be a better place if everyone got a little high once in a while.

Might have been too much for you then. I’m like this if I have 10mg or over, I just want to be by myself and sleep. 2.5-5mg is a good level where I can relax and still be a human being in public

My freshman year at the towers there were a lot of pot heads on my floor. I smoked it twice and it didn't do anything for me.

Then the second time I joined them in their ritual after smoking pot walking down to quiktrip to get their burritos. We get on the elevator with a bunch of big dudes that looked like gang members that murdered for fun after torturing you for 3 days and one of my pot head friends starts to giggle making the rest of them giggle like little school girls and all I could think of was if my parents would ever find my body. Haven't touched that **** since...
