Alabama pitcher throws a perfect game against UCLA. 21 up, 21 down, with 14 strikeouts.

First perfecto at the WCWS since 2000.

Worth mentioning that Pat Murphy is tremendous coach with deep Iowa roots. He recruited many top Iowa players who follow his program long after choosing other programs.

3-run blast by FSU provides the first lead change in the WCWS since the 2018 championship game (23 games).

Zona ties it up T-7, then FSU walks it off with a sac fly.

Looking ahead to the nightcap (OSU/FSU), this is the language from the NCAA manual:

"If the regular game schedule is altered because of weather or unforeseen circumstances, the following guidelines may be used and teams will be informed by the NCAA softball committee: (1) no more than three games by any one team will be scheduled in one day; and (2) if possible, games will not be scheduled to begin before 9 a.m. or after 11 p.m."

Going to be tough to get both games in tonight, given the 11:00 "cutoff":

First pitch now scheduled for 8:17 p.m.

Assume that NCAA/umpires will push the pace as much as reasonably possible, and keep ESPN from continually padding its breaks.
