Probably a 2 man race between Higgins and Noel, but Brahmer could be a sleeper.

I picked Brahmer. I think he is going to be a redzone monster. Between Sama keeping the safeties attention and the speed and pressure that Noel and the other WRs imposed on secondaries last year, I don’t think you can cover Brahmer. There are few big 12 LBs that can cover him 1 on 1.

Wow this is tougher than I thought it would be. I dont think i can remember a time in my 30 years of ISU fandom when we had more offensive weapons. I think this even exceeds 2021. It will probably be Higgins, and im totally okay with that, but my vote is for Alston. I think he will be an absolute red zone monster given his size and catch radius/hands

Eh. That 2020-21 offense was stacked. Hall (best RB in the country), Kolar (all-conference and best hands in a TE I’ve seen), X (all-conference WR), plus Allen and Soehner were above average TEs. And Nwangwu as a returner/change-of-pace back.

Not sure this O will be able to match that firepower. We may collectively be better at WR than that team though

I debated between Noel, Higgins and Brahmer. I chose Noel, and here's why.

Higgins has the most potential for going deep often. He's going to score from outside scoring position. Ngoyi is in this class too, but doesn't have Higgins experience.

Brahmer is going to be huge in the red zone. So he'll get lots of targets with easier opportunities to score.

Noel I think is the most complete threat. He can go deep on his own. He can turn a short pass into a long gain from anywhere on the field. He's not as tall as traditional red zone / goal line targets (Lazard, Butler, Kolar, etc), but in photos he looks like he's gained a ton of muscle and should be able to out-muscle corners in that situation.

Everyone else probably just won't get enough targets to contend. But I expect everyone to have big moments.

Two differences.

A. This team has a far more talented (and deeper) OL. That’s clear even at a surface glance.

B. Both the receivers and backs have more depth of talent and speed than ‘20-21. The latter especially true for the wideouts.

A.) I agree at the surface level, but I’ll believe in the OL when I see it.

B.) I agree on the WRs. Not at RB though.

Hall, X, Kolar, Allen, Soehner, and whoever else, vs Sama, Higgins, Noel, Brahmer, Green, Alston.

For point of reference, the 2021 offense that you referenced averaged 6.2 yards per play. Last years offense averaged 6.1. Now, 2021 offense had 48 touchdowns to last years 40. There is not as big of a gap there as you think there is. Now, I do not believe that Sama is on the same level as Hall. I think he had 20 some touchdowns in 2021, but other than RB, this is the most talented offensive group we have had in a very long time

How good are Abu's "hands" out of the backfield?
IMO thats where he could improve the most. only had 7 catches last year. Not sure on how many targets, but that seems like a low number

It very well could be Higgins but it’s not some forgone conclusion. I think there’s some freezer burn going on here with Noel.

This is fair. However, I wonder what we’d be at last year if we remove the KSU game outlier where they averaged 13.4 yards per play

Fair point. But using the same thought process, if you take Halls 23 TD's out of 2021, then those numbers are pedestrian as well

I think it’s Higgins and it won’t be close.
Agree, but I think Braymer could be right there. Those are the guys running the big-play type routes usually. But there's a certain amount of luck in whether its a TD, or gets tackled inside the 5.

Hopefully they will both break Lazard's record. I'd allow that.
