Are you kidding me?
Who is Central Iowa wants to watch Houston and Nawlins?
Its on KDSM right now for me in Urbandale. Sounds like you might be tuned in to KCCI.
Houston/New Orleans is the CBS (KCCI) game.
Detroit/Minnesota is on Fox (KDSM).
CBS does AFC games, while Fox does NFC games. That is why the Lions vs Vikings would never be on CBS.
When the AFC team is the road team vs. NFC,it's on CBS,therefore Houston @ N.Orleans.
When the NFC team is the road team vs. AFC,it's on Fox like the Minnesota @ S.Diego game in week one.
oops, brain fart.
KDSM should be showing Eagles vs Giants.
No they shouldn't. That is not a game in Iowa's market. Minnesota and Detroit are however.
Wrong. Show the best game that appeals to all fans. Don't cater to the minority by putting a bad team on for the second straight week.
But it's a more compelling game. At least that's what I've heard the networks use to determine what games should be shown here.
That is not how it works though. They show the teams in the state's market. Giants and Eagles aren't. If they did it your way there would be games never shown on T.V.
And I suppose you think we should never have ISU, Iowa, or UNI on TV either, just OU,UT and LSU?
Those teams are actually in Iowa. Vikings are not. And how many networks show college games vs 1 channel for the NFC game. Bad job outta you.
Vikings and Michigan are in the region. Giants and Eagles are not.
That "best game" doesn't appeal to all fans. If KDSM wants to capture the metro, you show the teams that are followed. How many people in Iowa care about the Eagles or Giants?
Des Moines stations will always show the games featuring the most popular teams in the area.
In Des Moines, that generally means the Bears, Chiefs, Packers, and Vikings. Probably in that order.
A good matchup will appeal to more fans than a bad matchup.
You can't seriously think that an Eagles/Giants game is going to draw better for the Des Moines Metro than Vikings/Lions can you? KDSM doesn't care about national appeal. They need to sell ad space in the metro. To capture the metro, you want local teams if at all possible unless it's a REALLY big game. No game in week 3 is a really big game. There aren't playoff spots on the line or anything.
