among the all-time cyclone greats?

I say behind Willoughby and Hornacek...I'd put Hoiberg, Johnny Orr (coach), and Gary Thompson as my top 3?

What do you guys think?

I'd have Royce in the 3rd tier with Cato, Stinson.

Not a Grayer or Fizer fan?

I'd put Fizer as #1.

High, but lower because his body of work only includes this year.

Star Players off Big 12 champ years, higher.

Players from Hoiberg era, higher.

He was key in bringing ISU back from the depths but I feel in 5 - 8 years he'll be somewhat forgotten up against the other players. Not completely forgotten but not a legend. A little higher than Brackins mainly because White had success while here.

Are we talking about fan favorite rank or production rank? If it's fan favorite, he's definitely top 5. Production wise, maybe top 10 because he only had one year here.

Not a legend? He had legendary dunks and charisma.

I'd say higher than anybody since Tinsley, but I'm not sure about Stinson.

Stinson's three years vs White's one is a tough call. I think White is higher though because he was so dominant and because of his off-the-court persona.

He will have a special spot because of his story of redemption....getting his life back on track while here and growing as a person. That no other ISU player to me can claim.

If I take a step back from this year, in the grand scheme of things not a legend. He could have had that if he came back. But a few years from now he's a great (not legend) that lead us to the NCAA tourney (and not sweet 16, elite 8, final 4). That right there is what hurts his legend stock to me the most.

But yes, he is probably one of the top 5 best players we've had come through.

Way up there
Only playing 1 year hurts, he's one of the better Cyclones all time but didn't do enough here to be in the discussion to hang #30 in the rafters at Hilton.

Here nor there
Tough call due to having only one year and playing the #1 team in the second round...
That said, he is top-10 to me. A combo of JT and Fizer. Had he stayed another year and led ISU to heights never before experienced, he could have been #1 imo.

Personally, he's my favorite player I can remember. Granted my years of fandom have been pretty dark (i'm 19...so i really only remember about 2000 on..) His story just amazes me, and his ability to make everything look so effortless is awesome. I love Royce, it's almost unhealthy, and I have no problems admitting it!! :spinny:

High. He piloted a monumental turnaround. He combined dominance with grace. Power with finesse. Intimidation with respect.

Lower than Brackins. When given the same choice between the 2 of them (stay and help ISU make the next step or leave for $$$) Brackins choose ISU. White did not.

Note: I know White is way better than Brackins when based on results. I don't blame Brackins for poor coaching. I give him major props for being "All in" on ISU and doing everything he could to make us relevant again.

Results are what players are remembered for. Unfortunately for brackins he got hosed and didn't have much to show for his time.
