Hot off the press. Enjoy!
I remember Bret taking a pounding at Nebraska, but he stood in there. Tough guy, always appreciated him.
One small correction: 2003 was the 2-10 year, not 2002. I vividly remember that awful season since I was a freshman that year
Meyer to Blythe was my go to play call in NCAA football 04
Such missed opportunities in 2004 and 2005. Some of those losses still hurt
Yep - sounds like they still hurt for Bret Meyer as well. Curious to know what kind of work he is doing.
Another great WATN by Rob Gray!!
Didn't seem to have too many current tid bits for a 'where are they now' article, did it?
I think he is still in medical sales
Forgive me for asking, where is he now? I was hoping this feature would mention something from the past 15 years?
Really like these articles but they should be called something like 'Looking back with....' because IIRC they spend more time looking back at memorable moments than actually delving much into what the former player is doing or where they actually are...now.
Which is fine--what someone's doing now might just be their own business and the fond memories are what makes it the most interesting, especially their perspective on certain teams they were on, coaches, etc.
Meyer had somewhat of a complicated career. Some memorable wins but some complexing seasons and then the bottom dropping out his last two years.
Bret Meyer was a fantastic Cyclone. Glad to hear about him again.
I know his mom and she told me last week that they were closing on their house in, I wanna say, Eden Prairie.
So, Where is he now?
He always seemed like a good guy. One of my favorites. We haven't had a QB anywhere near his production since he's left.
Really well done Rob, I enjoyed it!
Silly, there was 1 sentence buried in there.
The 2002 mentions in the midsection should be 2003.
