NO. The way I read the bill is that this is a 2020 tax credit. They are just giving you a check for it now instead of a credit on your 2020 tax return.

Apparantly the bill is $600/week or month (not positive) no matter your benefits or salary.

Or all the boomers willing to die for the economy. Just think of how much better we'll all be with each of the extra $1200 checks in the federal coffers

It's an extra $600 per week on top of your normal benefits for 4 months

I have a buddy who works at a place where he has great benefits but pay is a little less than 20/hour. Him and his wife work there. Figure that is 800/week each. Usually 60% or so unemployment covers, that’s 480. With 600 more that puts him at 1080 not working. He is hoping they get shutdown for a couple months.

So if you qualify in 2018, but not 2019, and you get a check based on 2018, is that going to be bad later?

This is why some of those senators pushed back. There are people who would potentially make more unemployed.

Bad I don't think is the right word. Think of it as if they decided to send you a check now for the 2020 child tax credit rather than waiting until filing time and reducing your taxes by that amount.

Sounds like the House Dems are going to push for two rounds of checks when they get the bill.

Pass the stinking thing and then introduce another one if they feel they need to. They are going to hold this thing up while it's already going to be 45-60 days before anything gets rolling, not good to hold it up.
