The IState logo isn’t bad it is just misused. On the center of a field or court it looks good. It just doesn’t look good on helmets. They are doing a better job of mixing it up but need to do more. Our football helmets should never really have it on there. The one that does look good is a black helmet with it in color. We should be using the revised cyclone logos we have and the we will stripes much more. IMG_7269.jpeg IMG_7268.jpeg

I think the bird in a blender is my favorite, but that is still an insider reference. Could somebody take the image above and crop it so that it doesn't have the bird's head and fist? I think I would like us to lean into the fierceness of a cyclone/tornado without the bird.

OP: please update the poll to include either version of the Orr-nado. That's gonna be your winner, but I am guessing you knew that going in.

They've never done the Trice stripes on the helmet, I love that logo, but idk if it works on the side of a helmet.

What happens first, we change from the I State or beer is sold throughout the stadium? Pollard is against both.

The point of the poll was to recreate the original options before the I State logo was selected.

That said, I felt at the time the admin knew exactly what they were doing by offering I State against two pretty dull "logos" in their poll.

I’m almost positive there wasn’t a fan vote.

The I State logo is great. The others are great and are still used.

I’m not sure why we argue about this. Do other fanbases do this? Does Oklahoma State ***** because they have OSU and at her than a cowboy?

I don’t mind the current logo. Definitely love the classic walking Cy. But what I think would look really good are the block “ISU“ with a more realistic, looking tornado underneath it than that ugly early 2000 thing. That bird in a blender “thing” was IMO the ugliest logo of all time.

If you are going with script it needs to be this, not that new version that sucks, they are using on some clothing etc.

Logo versions with mascot etc. should be some form of this, (there have been a few slight mods to these that are pretty decent).

I have always like these too.

The current IState is ok, but should drop the bevels and the 4 color for a the single or 2 color version, at least for everything Athletics.

The updated bird in a blender is the best IMO. It sadly didn't last all that long after the I-State revamp in 2008. Shame cause it would have been a smooth transition from the ISU blender helmet that was used from 95-07. Also would be a solid logo for the bball shorts.

I was watching Two Guys and they were discussing how we got the new I State logo. A comment mentioned that there was a fan vote and that's how we ended up with our current logo. I had no idea that this had occurred until today! This made me think, if we were to hold a vote today. Which would you vote for?

Link to designs:
It's kinda funny looking at these now. I have a theory they spent all the money designing the I-State logo then threw together the other two to present it to the fans as if there was actually a choice. No way they paid any design firm to design the letters 'ISU' or to just put 'Cyclones' in cursive.

It's pretty easy to see why the "modern" looking I-State "won" out of the given choices.

However I think any variation on the Orrnado, or the old logo unchanged, would be a mile better than the Brand X logo we have now.

And to answer an ealier query, we'll sell beer in JTS before we move off this logo, bank on that.

We are going to NEED to sell beer to help pay for the players. I sure as hell hope Jamie Pollard realizes that now.

It was a "vote" where the athletic department had already decided that they wanted I-State, so they floated two pretty mediocre alternatives knowing that the one they wanted would easily win a vote. I remember thinking that way back in 2007 when I saw the choices.

I don't mind the I-State. I know a lot of others hate it. I will just say, as someone who has lived outside of Iowa for almost 20 years, I now get far more recognition of the I-State logo when I'm wearing it than I did when I moved. I think Fred and CMC having success are a huge reason why. But, it also means that if we change identities again, that process starts all over.

I'm a little skeptical that "we go back to square one" moving off the I-State Brand X logo.

Yes, there's a period where people would need to get used to seeing something different.

However the classic logo is self-identifying because IT'S A TORNADO. And in some versions it could literally say CYCLONES right in the logo. No person would mix up who this logo translates into.

What's objectively hard to translate for the current logo is that IT COULD BE ANY SCHOOL that starts with the letter I. It is literally Brand X for marketing. And by the way, that was literally part of the design case, because JP mentioned wanting our logo to be 'more like other schools'.
