Now that grilling season is upon us, which steak rules supreme? What cut of beef do you like to toss on the fire? Personally, I'm gonna go with the strip steak. Great taste, perfect size, its all around amazing.

Fareway sells a cut I had never even heard of (shoulder tenders) and have been eating them for the past year or so. Good stuff

I can't stand any meat that has a lot of fat. Chewing it or watching someone chew through it makes me want to gag.

Porterhouse all the way! Don't eat it often but I love it when I do.

maybe a terras major? i've been getting them from ibp direct-know a guy who knows a guy. they are very good, out of a part of cow not known for steaks.

my favorite depends on my mood. i think sirloins have the best flavor, but a good juicy well marbled ribeye is also hard to beat when cooked properly.

definately needs to be bloody whatever it is

For steak it's rib-eye shortly followed by a NY strip. My favorite beef though is prime rib - The Radish in Grimes has what I firmly believe to be the best prime rib in the metro.

If you are a beef lover and have not been to Sam & Gabes to enjoy their beef de Burgo - you should do so immediately.

Wow, i totally forgot about those. My parents started getting them a few years ago, and they are sooooooooo good. Would vote for this or t-bone.

Love me a medium ribeye.
On a side note- Grilled Tuna steaks has grown on me over the last few years. I've been told they are terrible here as opposed to on the coast, but the ones I've got at Fareway and Hyvee are pretty darned good

The next polls should be how do you like your steak cooked and do you use steak sauce? I like mine done medium rare to medium and putting anything but some salt and pepper or a little seasoning on the steak ruins the taste IMO

I agree with the medium rare. If the outside is slightly crispy while the inside is tender and juicy, even better. As far as condiments, my view used to be that steak and nothing but steak is put on steak, but lately its turned into a bit of A1 every other bite.

I wasn't hungry before I read this thread, but now........

I like the flatirons. Second would be either NY strip or sirloin.

As to CYdTracked's question: medium rare and no steak sauce. I only use a rub. A good steak doesn't need sauce.

Usually a Sirloin, well-done with ketchup.

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

god i hope you don't order that in a steakhouse. go get a hamburger at Chili's if that is what you want, don't ruin a perfectly good piece of meat. People should know better, especially people from Iowa.
