1/9 = .11111111111111111111 to infinity
2/9 = .22222222222222222222
8/9 = .88888888888888888888
9/9 = 1

Where does the .000000000000000000000000001 go?

I find it crazy that we celebrate some very dark holidays.
Labor day was created as a bandaid to cover up multiple massacres of American workers. Columbus Day is named after a brutal tyrant whose history is largely false.
Thanksgiving is a sham celebration of pilgrims and Native Americans coming together.

I read this and found it to be an eye opener.

That guys are still expected to wear an uncomfortable, colored piece of cloth around their neck as a sign of professionalism. The tie lobby must be extremely powerful.

We went from that field in Kittyhawk to planting the Stars and Stripes on the moon in under sixty years. I find that amazing.
not quite under sixty, but you're right it's still amazing.

When we look at the night sky were looking back into the past. A star that is 25 million light years away, we're seeing what that star looked like 25 years ago

There are 200 billion galaxies out there (maybe more) and the Milky Way may have as many as 400 billion stars.

Hubris on our part to believe our planet is the only one with life.

If you're interested in things like that, this is a very good book:
Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American History Textbook Got Wrong: James W. Loewen: 9780743296281: Amazon.com: Books

You're right, the Christopher Columbus we learn about in school is not exactly the truth.
