We potentially play 6 of our 11 non-conference games against schools that were top-100 RPI at the end of last season. And one of them is a home game against an opponent from outside the state!

There are four games that should be easy wins, but the other seven (the above 6 plus Vandy) should all be good games. Unless we play San Diego State instead of Central Michigan.

NOV 5 (SUN) WISCONSIN-LA CROSSE (EXHIBITION)
NOV 10 (FRI) SOUTH DAKOTA (RPI 77)
NOV 14 (TUE) @ NORTHERN IOWA (RPI 52)
NOV 20 (MON) UMKC (RPI 292)

JUNKANOO JAM (Bahamas)
NOV 24 (FRI) TULANE (RPI 74)
NOV 25 (SAT) CENTRAL MICHIGAN/ SAN DIEGO STATE (RPI 43/270)

NOV 30 (THU) @ DRAKE (RPI 26)
DEC 2 (SAT) @ VANDERBILT (RPI 115)
DEC 6 (WED) IOWA (RPI 64)
DEC 10 (SUN) NORTH CAROLINA CENTRAL (RPI 335)
DEC 17 (SUN) UC RIVERSIDE (RPI 187)
DEC 21 (THU) NICHOLLS STATE (RPI 297)

The 'boring' non-conference schedule is hardly anything new or surprising. By now, either you deal with it knowing this is just the way things are, or you stop buying tickets to the games. If you love and support this team/program, you'll go. The complaining about it gets old. Would *I* love the schedule to be better than it has been? Sure! But it isn't. Oh well.

From the link "...kicking off the season's first official competition at home against South Dakota (Fri., Nov. 10)" -- I have this game on my schedule IF it is a night game. Any thoughts on the possibility of this being a 6-7:00 PM game?

The only reason last year's WBB opener was during the day on Friday was because both MBB and WBB wanted to play the first legal day, and both scheduled home games -- likely without the other staff knowing. That's not a problem this year since MBB is on the road.

Unfortunately, it's a noon game: AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State women's basketball team is hosting their 2nd annual Field Trip Day. All schools with students in first through eighth grade are invited to attend the women's basketball game versus South Dakota on November 10th at noon. http://cyclones.com/news/2017/10/2/womens-basketball-to-host-2nd-annual-field-trip-day.aspx

I'm taking a vacation day, it will be fun!

Me too.. It was actually a really fun atmosphere last year with all the kids there. I didn't know what to expect going into it, but it was a blast. They should keep doing this every year, even if it means I have to find a way to get out of work to go watch :)

All...Veteran's Day is observed on Friday, 10 November...go to the game and support the Lady Cyclones...a great way to start a 3-day week-end (for many). Understand that there are many that still work regardless of it being a federal holiday...

I plan to go to my Hy-Vee for my Veteran's Day free breakfast then to the game, it was fun last year and the young kids are great.

Any of those three teams could beat us on any given date and year. There is no good reason to play them during the non con when you will probably see them in the big dance anyway. I like the new stuff that the team is putting on twitter. One practice down and everyone is still smiling, even Sofia.
